At the request of a client, I made shepherd's pie. Truth be told I had never had it much less made it before. What a delightful surprise! While this dish is typically made with lamb, my client requested ground beef. The addition of garlic, onion, carrots, homemade beef stock, fresh rosemary, fresh thyme, frozen corn and peas is mouthwatering!
The addition of a little whipping cream with an egg yolk to the potatoes resulted in a rich creamy topping for the bundle of goodness below it. This is a very tasty, satisfying dish which was surprisingly less heavy than I had anticipated. My husband, who had also never had it before, could not stop raving about the flavors. This is a great winter dish that I will absolutely be making again before the flowers start to bloom!
